2010 - week #3
I almost forgot to write this, but if I don't I'll get too far behind! Monday, AJ started saying "Uh-Oh!" and it is so cute! He figured out that if he says something, we will copy him. His favorite thing right now is to just say "Uh!" with a big smile and wait for us to copy him. He even started clucking his tongue today! Rachel threw up again this week - after eating hot dogs. I'm pretty sure it's from not chewing her food very well, so we're trying to focus on getting her to do so. Christopher had a basketball game yesterday and even got in a few shots this game. After a huge scare last night, we were all able to go to all of church this week! I haven't been able to go to Sacrament Meeting the last two weeks, so I was excited. From what I hear, though, I think Chris, Bryce and Tacy do better without me there! Actually they are pretty good - I think Rachel is the handfull. My scare last night was with Aaron. He went into really low blood sugar and after getting him to eat some crackers, he was finally able to go in the kitchen and eat. He hasn't done that for a long time and it was quite scary. I'm just thankful he was able to get some rest and is feeling better.

2010 - Week #2
Aaron's birthday week! Aaron wanted a Star Wars Party for his big 4-0 birthday and we were going to all get costumes, but decided to save our money for our trip to St George in February. We did try to watch an episode of Star Wars every night and most all of us watched all, but the 5th, each night. Unfortunately, the movies are over 2 hours each and the kids got to bed quite late most nights - even with me turning the movies off before they were over! Aaron's parents took us to breakfast at Village Inn on his birthday - the 13th - before they went to work and the boys went to school. After, Aaron, Tacy, Rachel, AJ and I drove to Layton. We stopped in Ogden and since Rachel and AJ were asleep, Aaron dropped Tacy and me off at a Mervyn's while he drove around. Unfortunately, when we got up to the door, we noticed that it was closed down! We hadn't taken our coats, and although it was warmer than here, it was still a bit chilly. Luckily we walked down a little ways and went in a different store for a while and then me Aaron back where he dropped us off. Then we went to the Layton Hills Mall and let the girls play on the little play area and then walked around the mall until lunch, which we ate at Red Lobster. We stopped at Krispy Kreams on the way home and made it just before the boys got out of school. On Friday, we invited family over for an openhouse party. It was really fun - my sister Cathy's family and my Grandparents, Aaron's brother Val's family and his parents and a cousin and his daughter were able to come and it was a good night. Christopher had basketball practice after from 8:30-9:30PM! Luckily it wasn't a school night, but his game was at 8:30 this morning. I didn't know what to do, since Aaron had to work and Rachel had thrown up twice during the night. I ended up taking her in the stroller and keeping her away from people, in the hall. Christopher is playing on a 3-4 Grade team and this is his first year playing. He is doing a good job and is really good at getting the ball away from people and stopping them from passing and scoring. I think he's having fun.
Doctor's Appointments on Friday - and our two youngest may very well end up the two smallest of our children. For Rachel's 2 year appointment (even 2 months late), she is 24.4 lbs - 25% and 33 1/2 " - 50%. As for AJ, even though I think he weighs a lot, he is only 17 lbs 4 oz - 10%! He is only 27" long, the 25%. I am quite sure neither Chris or Bryce ever fell below 50%, and that was only in weight for Bryce. It will be interesting to see how they end up when they are older! I think AJ is just a dead-weight, and doesn't hold himself up, which is quite interesting because he is so active and crawls everywhere and stands up next to everything. The funniest is when he is supposed to be sleeping and I look over at his crib and he is standing next to the side with a big smile on his face! Lucky for him, I can't be too mad at that cute smile! He is spoiled with his sleep and I dread the day I am going to have to let him cry himself to sleep. He has a very high-pitched scream and 'bounces' standing next to the side of his crib. Hopefully soon, he will sleep through the night. Rachel got over her fever and was well for her Doctor's Appointment, but has picked up a bug and is now throwing up! 2010 - Week #1
As a week is over in 2010, I am hoping to keep up with our Blog and write once a week - wish me luck! I am currently home from church with Rachel and AJ because Rachel has a fever, which she most likely got from AJ who just got over his fever of 3 days. To re-cap this week, we started off the New Year going sledding at Gibbons Park. It was really fun and I even got to go down the hill a few times before going back to the van with AJ. Although AJ had a fever for several days, he was luckily still pretty happy and mostly just slept through it. Rachel is pretty much doing the same thing. Luckily, I knew yesterday whe was sick and could find a substitute for Nursery ahead of time, since we have church at 9AM now. I must admit, I really like it at 9AM. It doesn't overlap naptime (except AJ's) or lunch and I enjoy having a large block of time after to rest and let the kids do projects. I am hoping to add to our Sunday Kit, which currently includes some puzzles, file folders, things to color, and stationary to write letters. We will also hopefully have enough energy to make bread or cookies or other treats on Sunday afternoons, too. A good beginning to 2010!
2009 Porter Family Newletter
It's the start of a new year and time to reflect on the year that is over. 2009 went by extremely fast and a lot of exciting things happened in the Porter Family. I decided to make a "Top 6" list of events from 2009 (I just couldn't narrow it down to 5).
#3 was taking the kids to the Oquirrh Mountain Temple Open House the week of Christopher's Baptism. Although the kids weren't as reverent as hoped, it was neat to have the opportunity for them to see inside a Temple and I think they enjoyed it.
#4 was our trip to St. George in February. At 7-months pregnant, I wasn't sure about the drive, but we had a good time and the kids especially liked swimming at the hotel at night, before bed.
#5 was getting the girls' room finished - including sealing off a window into the garage, trading the teal carpet in for a neutral color, painting the walls pink with purple trim and putting up molding. Aaron worked really hard on it and did most of it by himself. The girls loved it and I was glad to get them out of the Living Room!
#6 was getting the hall painted. Although it is quite small, it needed a lot of work. Aaron sanded and sanded, put up molding, sanded more, and painted. I even got to put on much of the first coat of paint! We decided to be daring and paint it a deep red color with white trim and it looks fantastic!
A few other things which could have easily made the list were during the entire month of July/first part of August when we squeezed in enough birthdays, parties, reunions and other family events to last a whole year!
As for each of us individually, Aaron is still working at the Post Office delivering mail and keeping the books on our store, Maternity In Style. He also spent a lot of hours working on our house. He is the Ward Clerk for our ward and teaches in his High Priest Group. I, Sheri, get to work at home with our online business as well as trying to keep the house in order. I traded my PTA job as Treasurer to be in charge of the 1st Annual Bridger Elementary Winter Olympics which will happen in February. It is a lot of work, but I am really excited about it. I am still in the Nursery for our ward and love working with the adorable children in there. Christopher turned 8 years old on July 23rd and was baptized two days later. He is in the 3rd Grade and loves to read, draw and make things - mostly with marker and lots of tape! Bryce turned 7 years old on September 23 and is in the 1st Grade. He is doing a really good job in school and had a fun time playing Soccer in the Spring and Jr Grizz Basketball last Fall. He has a lot of energy and can be found all over the court - at any given time! He also loves to draw. Tacy turned 4 years old on July 22 and is in Pre-School. She wants to do her homework just like the boys (unfortunately, they're not as excited as she is) and is learning lots of things. She also loves to draw. Rachel turned 2 years old on November 13. She wants to do what her older siblings do and is a very happy girl, who loves to tease and tell knock-knock jokes, just like her brothers! She talks and talks, and talks! Aaron Jacob (AJ) was born on April 13, 2009 at 1:52PM in Logan, Utah. He weighed 7 lb 9 oz which really surprised me because my other boys were over 1 pound bigger! He was 19 inches long. He keeps me busy - especially since he started crawling at 6 months! He is very happy and is starting to show a really fun personality! I must admit, I have the best family in the world and I am so thankful for them. 2009 was a great year and we are excited for 2010!

We had a really hard time finalizing the name and may never quite get it figured out, as he is called Jacob, AJ, Aaron Jacob, and sometimes just Aaron!#2 was Christopher's Baptism. He just didn't want to wait another month to become a Member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints! We were proud of his decision and he said he felt really happy to be baptized.
